Alexander Hogrebe receives Lundbeck Foundation PhD grant

Alexander HogrebeResearchers Alexander Hogrebe, Louise von Stechow and Jesper Olsen from the Olsen group at Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research receive Lundbeck Foundation PhD Scholarship.

The grant of 1.575.000 is given for Alexander’s  PhD project:

“Novel roles for PBK mediated phospho-signaling in breast cancer cells”

Alexander will study the dependence of breast cancer cell lines on the mitotic kinase PBK during drug treatment. Previous studies showed that PBK can enhance tumor cell survival, migration and the formation of metastasis, but the underlying mechanisms are still unknown.

By combining mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics and targeted biology experiments into a systems biology-based approach, he strives to shed light upon the signaling network of PBK and its interactors.
